Checking In to Gorgeous George

This is one of Cape Towns most recent hotels and the only style hotel in the city. And simply as you d expect, the hotel is effortlessly chic in its style and decor. It was the service that topped my experience, making this one of my preferred hotels to remain in Cape Town.

Checking in to Gorgeous George

The previous few months considering that we entered into lockdown in South Africa have actually been tough to say the least. I have not spent much time outdoors let alone in public locations, however with restrictions finally reducing, Ive been making more efforts to get out and support regional companies.

With the ease of the lockdown, lots of hotels in Cape Town are providing discounted rates on their stays. This has actually resulted in an increase of locals signing in for a staycation and I myself enjoyed to be one of them!

This wasnt my very first time at Gorgeous George, Cape Towns trendiest design hotel. This time, I was back to inspect in for a one-night escape in the city.

The rooms at Gorgeous George.

The spaces are conveniently selected with all the usual suspects. A mini-bar with a handful of temptations, Netflix-equipped tv in the lounge and bedrooms, and a Marshall speaker. The finishing touches consisted of a complimentary tea and coffee station, a welcome note and a hand-drawn map of Cape Towns city centre.

I would be inspecting in to room 306, a corner suite, complete with two-bedrooms, a lounge and a kitchen space. My very first idea when I entered was how wonderfully lit the space was with natural light, especially being in the heart of the CBD.

My preferred highlight of the room was the bathrooms. And in specific, the oversized vintage tub that featured in the primary bed room. As I was staying in a two-bedroom suite, there were ensuites in each room. Both were equipped with Gorgeous George amenities, including facial scrub and body lotion reminiscent of popular brand Aesop.

In-room dining

I just remained for one night, I still handled to make usage of the in-room dining choice for breakfast prior to check-out. Guests can either select to have breakfast on the roof terrace or in the comfort of their rooms. This being a staycation, I chose to dine in the comfort of my bed! For breakfast I selected the healthy granola bowl along with a side of scrambled eggs. Plus the addition of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and black coffee actually got me started for the day.

A night at Gigi Rooftop

The night in the past, I dined at Gigi rooftop. As I mentioned previously this was already one of my favourite dining places in the city, having visited some months previously. The menu is small however do not let that fool you: each meal is crafted to flavour excellence. Plus there is a strong concentrate on textures with a tasty crunch that truly brought my meals to life. Dont miss out on the chance for dessert: theres a chocolate molten cake on the menu!

At least make it up to Gigi roof for one of your evenings in Cape Town if you do not stay at Gorgeous George. This is typically considered one of the very best restaurants in town and quickly the most playful roof bar. The chef and his team have truly refined the art of a streamlined menu. It makes selecting that much easier, but make sure to ask about the daily specials to attempt something brand-new.
