Why Tools and Technology?
Its difficult to work without innovation today– but on the other hand, theres so much of it. And it changes so regularly, its hard to understand what to invest your time in learning and studying because its here to stay and what you should just glimpse at as it powers down into oblivion.
There are some pieces of technology, like Vellum, that have radically changed the face of publishing for indie authors across the world. Before the invention of Vellum formatting software, the AskALLi team either spent hours sweating over formatting themselves or handed over to pay another person to do it. Skin is an example of tech that has shaved hours of time, frustration and sweat out of our lives. And thats just one piece of software.

I hadnt become aware of http://OneLook.comj which as John Doppler states is a set of “power tools for wordsmiths [and] the versatility of its conceptual thesaurus puts Roget to embarassment.” Caring The Noun Project recommended by Sarah Begley, an exceptional collection of iconography for any kins of communication– email, newsletter, book– and a visual variety and addition mission. Theyre “developing a global visual language that unifies us”, they say. Marvellous!
