As soon as once again, a blended rainfall blogpost coming at you. Its a bit rain, a bit hail, maybe a couple frogs-n-toads tumbling from the heavens. And away we go.
Trump sucks canker ass, and Im thankful his sorrowful rally was a pitiful mess trolled by K-pop stans and teenagers. The kids are all. (Though essential to note, they didnt limit the participants, considering that tickets werent topped. No, the low presence was just a mix of PANDEMIC plus HE SUCKS CANKER ASS.) In any case, get fucked, marmalade hitler.
I planted a buncha plants– were actually working to put in native plants here, and now we have actually planted, lets see, helianthus, asters, bee balm, mountain laurel, viburnum, blueberries, phlox, mountain mint, overload milkweed, coneflower, and hyssop. We have hull peas and snap peas and green beans growing in. Carrots are looking healthy, however I believe they need a couple more weeks prior to we can do anything.
Starhawks and Rae Sloanes and Aftermaths, oh my. Im honestly a little bit burned out on anything called “Star Wars” right now, however that Squadrons game trailer tickled me more than a little– good to see shots of the Nadiri Starhawk and Rae Sloane. (The first of which I created for Aftermath, the second of which was gratefully conjured by John Jackson Miller in his Rebels unique and who functioned as the foundation for the waning Empire in the 3 Aftermath books.) Im honestly excited any time you see those ripples waterfall out into other books or video games or what-have-you.
The Stephen King thing is absolutely a concern that comes up a lot. Theyre books that feel like they have the scope and cut of impressive dream however instead of Middle Earth, its America, and with the scary element dialed method, way up. Wanderers absolutely tries to grapple with The Stand as a story, and does so in part by acknowledging it directly in the text– its a book some of the characters have actually checked out.

Its officially summer. Is that great? I dunno.
P.S. Im still on Twitter vacation. Still locked down, still not visiting much. Its been good. I expect that holiday to continue in some kind through much of the summer, however once again Ill be here and on Instagram posting quite photos and what not. And Ill publish images here, too, like this batch.
Im sure there is, Im simply stating, it just feels like a location where you can, in dulcet tones, talk about numerous cheeses and the cheesemaking processes that birth them. Regardless, I got to talk with WPR about Wanderers, which is not really as gentle a subject as we might like, given, well, * gestures broadly * all the pandemicness going on outdoors our door.
Theres a family pal who contracted it toward the start. And now hes got autoimmune encephalitis from it. It essentially altered his character, left him with dreadful neurological signs– basically a sort of high-test dementia. Theres no end game, yet. No treatment has worked. Hes maybe only ten, fifteen years older than I am. I can just say, take this disease seriously. Those it strikes may not die, however theyre not always left entire, either. And were just a mile down this roadway and cant see what survivors are left with in a year, or 10 years, health-wise.
When once again, a blended precipitation blogpost coming at you. Its a little bit rain, a little bit hail, perhaps a couple frogs-n-toads tumbling from the heavens. The Stephen King thing is definitely a question that comes up a lot. Its the equivalent of the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who– the moment we blink, the beast comes for us.
Required a list of Black-owned book shops? Yes you do, and here it is.
Speaking of the Quarantimes … most of the counties in our state, including our existing county, are green or headed to green, which is “good,” I guess? Mostly resumed? I imply, its great because it means our numbers have actually remained low, and weve (in theory) made our green status by not opening too soon. However I also understand that were in for another spike, due to the fact that people assume that GREEN indicates GONE, and youve got a lot of poopy-pants man-children who wont use masks. And theyre discussing opening schools in the fall and even in green status, I just dont see how. The infection still exists. We didnt remove it. Its surging huge in parts of the country, and its not like individuals cant come here from there, and … oof, JFC, this resembles fire season. Since you put out that fire doesnt imply we cant have more fires, simply. Theres still dry tinder laying around, all set to spark. Its hard to be positive here, however truth is reality, and the virus moves when we move. Its the equivalent of the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who– the minute we blink, the beast comes for us.
